I was posted to RAF Binbrook in 1950 and joined 617 Squadron, “The Dambusterd”. The other Squadrons there were 9, 12, 101 and 135 squadron. It was a very happy station. Bull was minimal except for AOC’s inspections. We flew Avro Lincolns until they were replaced by the English Electric Canberra with twin Avons. We also did a 6 month detachment to Malaya, the terrorists didn’t like thousand ponders dropped on them! Then they were disbanded to form a Vulcan Squadron and I finished my time on Air servicing Flight. I became a Warrant Officer in Air cadets for 25 years and now fully retired, Help my wife breeding miniature poodles.
