I repeatedly state about how proud I am about the foundations of the guild being very secure. This is a very short blog post today, I will ask only 1 question and hope to get a lot of comments. Apathy here does not count since any lack of replies here will simply show me people don’t care enough to be bothered. In that circumstance then I will please myself and the officers and move the guild to a busy server where people can pug freely, our raid team can actually recruit raiders who care enough to show up and know their class inside out and the social levellers may actually have a place where they can be social, whereas in sleepy old Xavius there is only sporadic outbreaks of morale and fighting fun.
Should we stay on Xavius or move to a busier server? I’m waiting your replies…
/Salute
I agree with the move, it’s loooonnnngggg time over due. Xavius is dying and that’s a fact, i’ve been raiding all of my wow life and on this server it is current almost impossible to do if u don’t have a solid always there team of 10, if u need to pug u are screwed. Count me in, who know’s i might be there waiting for u :). I also agree with choosing the server carefully, because knowing myself if i have to wait to play a game i pay for, the poor keyboard might just feel the final wrath and end up in pieces 🙂
Cheers
I know I have already posted, but some thoughts occurred to me that I felt were needed here. While a lot of people have been concentrating on the positives of a realm move, no one seems to have mentioned any negatives of a high pop realm. Some of these are, competing for quest mobs, dailies taking 2-3 times longer than we are used to, getting ganked constantly, heavy competition for farming mats, relentless undercutting of auctions, almost never seeing a rare mob, or a world boss.
I do not put this up as a “I don’t want to go” statement, as I already told BigT I will xfer Magyc if the guild moves, but more of a do you know what you are in for? We are used to a sleepy low pop realm, where almost everything is obtainable for us when we want it.
I do feel that the guild would benefit from a move to another realm, the only issue that would have reservations about is the IRL cost. I understand this as I have already moved several toons to this realm to join Dambusters. Many people like myself use their alts proffs to provide for each other, and unless you were to transfer all that you thought were worth moving there would be quite a drawback to a move.
Just a thought 🙂

I feel the guild will benefit great by going for a new realm, as its existing realm, Xavius is dead and dropping more players with time. The guild has had use for new raiding recruits and occasionally pugs. Very few or maybe even none of these can be found on our realm right now. As of sosial realms, almost anything would be better than what we allredy got. I’ve got one lvl 90 on another more populated realm and at one point where i’d been in SW for almost 1 hr with 2-3 ppl writing in trade on xavius, i went over to my other char to check out there and ppl were talking in trade so fast i couldn’t complete reading what they wrote before it was gone.
I have long wanted to move one of my ally chars from Xavius but been holding back as i enjoy staying in this guild, and if the guild were to move that’d be perfect for my plans as well. With this i am saying that i’d love to tag along if this guild were to move, that will say if u want me to still be here =P
If i am allowed to come with my own suggestions, i would love for the guild to consider either Frostmane or Ravencrest as a new destination for this guild.

Some fantastic comments here, exactly what I’m after. It’s essential that you people who really care about the guild take this opportunity to voice your opinions on this crucial matter. I can say right now that based on the current feeling, we will be moving. However, my mind is definitely open to hearing your further concerns. If anyone out there feels reluctant to give a negative response because there’s so many others who you would be disagreeing with then please do not hesitate to make yout thoughts known. We need all opinions here because it’s of critical importance to the future of the guild. If you care, post. If you don’t care enough then you will probably be left behind.
/Salute to the people who love us enough to think long and hard, no matter what your thoughts are
Makes me sad that we most consider moving cause of inactivity on the server, I´ve had so many great moments here. But as a raider I find it frustrating to pug every week, or people not showing up when they are suppose too, it doesn´t contribute to making the game fun. Maybe we need a fresh start?
But if we do start fresh there is gonna be 2 main problems: Money and wich server. Picking a new server is essential, since I´ve seen a friend´s guild fade away after a transfer, and let´s just face the fact that we are gonna drop a large amount of people due to lack of money or interest to stay in the guild. But I don´t think that will happen to Dambusters, but we might need to leave Debby and Hairymary behind, they will probably scare new recruits away ;D
Seems like most of the crew are positive to the move but I can honestly say I actually like Xavius, low population and all( especially Douche Ex Machina hehehe), so for me it´s more the matter of the money really, and based only on the money issue I would say no to the transfer.
Yet again I´m starting to find the game alittle dull ( I have my up and downs ) so a new server might reload my batteries and make the game more interesting again. Also for the guild it seems like a good call ( would love some fresh meat mwuahahaha!) Based on that I say yes.
Could write a shorter book here about the matter but I´ll settle with this, for now!

Having only just really started playing on the alliance side again, I do not have the same experience as many of you on this realm. I would like to stay on Xavius, mainly because I have 4 other 90s here, and 4 more 85+ toons (albeit Horde). However, I would only need to xfer 1 toon as it stands if the guild xferred. While I might miss being able to xfaction send stuff over, it would be a small price to pay to stay with my new friends.
Magyc.
P.S One thing I can’t do is deal with having to queue just to play on my realm, as I log in and out so often. So if we move, please pick a server carefully.
As the raid leader and an officer, I see the move as a positive thing, as the last 6-8 weeks the raid team has been battling to progress because of a lack of interest/ lack of players and because we cant progress and not having enough people to pug with, we are stagnent… I’m getting bored and not having fun wiping all night wednesday and thursday is a waste of time in my opinion…
As an officer of a guild of more than 900 toons where close on 60% are inactive is also not a true reflection of where the guild is an can be, the other officers tried for weeks to get an RBG team together and there were constant issues, inactivity being key…
Scenarios, another big thing for both myself and the upkeep of the guild bank money are also hard to manage once again inactivity… In Xavius if you arent in the big elitist guilds u r screwed…
The money issues that players have got in transferring can be curbed… I am a south african and as you know we are a poor country but i will transfer my main first then as I gather up enough to transfer more, i will…
The way Blizzard is changing things, Xavius is gonna die a quick death and if we dont jump ship now, we gonna go down with it…
/salute…
P.S. If we dont move, I am still a dambuster through and through and the guild is in my blood… Good Luck on the decision
Over the time of playing through Xavius from wrath of the lich king. It has slowly been degrading and picking up like a yo yo but each time it degrades it seems to get a little smaller. Many guilds have left or disbanded including many of my previous guilds of which none are still around.
There is a great small number of players on this server that I have met, and even more in the Dambusters. but lately with a few high profile members and their friends leaving and many not online like they was at the start of mists its beginning to feel empty and frustrating, pressure mounts on the raiding team and overall the “fun” in the game has simply dried up for a few players.
The rest of the community as a whole on the server makes me shudder I will spare the listing. many things rely on the player base, including recruiting of players for teams such as raiding or Rated battlegrounds and it also helps with the auction house and player trade, lately I haven’t been selling anything on Auction house from too few buyers and too many undercutters.
I think a move for the guild as a whole would be a great idea, Exposure to new people and possible members, Securing the solid foundation of social aspect of the Dambusters would be easier on a higher population realm where people can log on and do things at will and not feel alone or like they miss out.
However the moves do come at a penalty, I would expect a few who will not move for reasons of unwillingness, money and naming issues, Picking a server is going to be a tough one and unfortunately you will not be able to take everyone. As much as we would like to recommend a server I would not like to force anyone to move to a place they might find to be a regret.
High population and a close even ratio are a key player in the security and longevity of a server.
cheers

This is what the guild has needed for a while now, Skanky-Pants hit the nail on the head there, Xavius is dying a death, and the stench is starting to tickle my perfectly formed nostrils. I can see how this could be a wee bit tricky though for some of the hardcore crafters, having a few Toons to move, the price could get crazy and I would hate to see some of my favourite D-Busters left all alone, scared in the dark, slowly getting fingered by a Goblin…..
Anyway, I’m in!!!
New patch, New Realm, and a Whole new start for The Dambusters.
Get it Right up YA!!
I’M GAME FOR THE SWITCH oops ‘caps’..
at the same time to think about the quality of guild members not the quantity . . . how easy is it to keep control and moderate in higher populations, I don’t give a shit about the raid either, I’m not a raider so its not my concern, .. anti-social pvp!! thats my game.
xavius has been conquered and who knows if the grass is greener, let’s find out!
I am quite fortunate as i have 1 lvl 90 and about 6 med-low lvl alts.
One positive thing about moving is that it may encourage people to start new chars, who can then join together to lvl in dungeons and battlegrounds. This will help to guild bond and develop some close groups who in the future could end up raiding together.
Just looking at what others have posted, I think the major problem is the IRL costs, I am struggling to think how I could even afford to move one character let alone people with 8 or so :s
Being part of the raiding team back in Cata (and having a blast whilst in it) I have always had a spot for TDM.
However, Xavius is the only and strongest reason I do not level my characters to 90 and get them geared. Like skankas said, xavius is dead, yet somehow still dieing, and a guild of this size and community shouldn’t be going down with it.
Moving to a higher pop realm could be the light at the end of the tunnel as to what this guild needs. It means the the main team can find the players they need, can find players to fill the gaps on raid nights, it means players in the guild can pug raids or other such events. It could see the return of old players and be the home of new. I know that if the dambusters were to move, i would strongly consider either moving a char or leveling a new one (i have no money see ^^ ).
So basically, my point is that you move, anyone who disagrees, i have no idea what stimulates them to stay on Xavius
As long as its not a faction change idm will be good to see some more ppls in game idk how much it will cost to transfer 8 toons tho
I am in complete agreement with you on this.
Xavius is dead, so soon after a new patch. It seems to be doomed to a slow stagnating death, and i don’t want the guild to be dragged down with it. My biggest worry is people not being able to afford to move all their alts. I would hate to loose long serving members, however the pros out-way the cons, there will be more chance for guild expansion and progression on a higher pop server.
The core guild members should not have a problem with this.
We need to find a more evenly matched server.
/salute
I can not express how much better I think it will be for the guild, the raid team and the social members to transfer to another server.
As you wrote, it will be easier getting people who show up and are ready to raid on every raid night, so we don’t have to get one or two new people in every single week. This isn’t helping the raid team at all. Also I think that on a higher populated server everyone will get more out of the game since getting people to do stuff, would it be a transmog run, leveling in dungeons or doing the dailies, will be alot easier since there are more active players.
I know that it’s a bit of money especially if you are moving your main character and your alts, but I think it’s worth it since I think that we all will get a much more fun eperience playing the game.
I am with you 100% when it comes to transferring. This is, by far, the best option if you ask me.
