THE DAMBUSTERS is a well looked after community guild who welcome all types of people into our ranks regardless of game skill or experience. As such, we must have certain laid down rules in place to ensure the guild leadership can refer to set guidelines when mediating between disputes. The guild is casual in nature but the people are full of passion and as human beings, we are all susceptible to making errors which can require careful management. It may be of value to assume that while being a member of The Dambusters, that your every action is noticed. Your guild leader has eyes in every corner of the server inside and outside the guild. Please take time to read these rules and stick to them, and most of all HAVE FUN!
General Guild Code of Conduct:
- RESPECT YOUR OFFICERS AND THE GM – Get to know your officers! Click this link to find out who they are and always be respectful to them, even if you disagree with something they say. If a Flight Sergeant, Warrant Officer or the Guild Leader tries to make contact with you and you repeatedly ignore them, you may be deemed unworthy of being a member of the Dambusters. We welcome all types of players and even quiet types, but human interaction is a requirement at least in some form so please be aware of this as it could result in your removal. *do not use bots*
- DO NOT ABUSE YOUR GUILD MATES – Everyone is entitled to talk about whatever they want in the guild within reason, politics, girls, football, rugby, raiding or whatever. Consider your guild mates as you would consider your real life friends and treat them accordingly. However, if my attention is brought to anyone dishing out abuse, harassment or bullying of any kind then expect to be chastised or removed from the guild. Same rules apply here as they do in real life with real people, every guild member is an actual living person and can be hurt so play nice.
- SCREENSHOT ANYTHING YOU NEED PROOF OF – If you feel aggrieved about someone’s behaviour then train yourself to take screenshots and email them direct to myself (Bigticket@dambusters.eu) with a covering statement explaining your exact issue. You can bet this will result in swift action! Simply complaining about other people must be treated by myself as ‘hear-say’ without evidence. Remember your guild leader has the full community to govern so your word against someone else’s may not mean the ‘offender’ will be disciplined.
- BE AN AMBASSADOR! – Every move you make with ‘The Dambusters’ displayed above your name can affect the reputation of your guild round the server community and potentially throughout Europe. You don’t have to get along with everyone but if you act with leniency then you give yourself time to decide on your next action instead of causing drama. Being a polite and respectable member of the community will gain you respect in the guild, equally you will find immediate pressure on yourself if you are not.
- SWEARING IS ALLOWED WITHIN REASON – Generally accepted as part of the gaming community, especially when becoming frustrated with a particular aspect of your daily WoW struggles. I am a big culprit of this, often venting my fury in the guild chat. When we do this, we are looking for support from our friends which is generally acceptable. The moment the language turns against another member of the guild then it becomes sinister and may be considered to be abuse, so be careful. In addition, there are younger players and female members who might be offended by extreme language so be ready to shush if asked to do so by an officer.
- DO NOT SPAM THE GUILD CHAT – Be careful when hitting that macro you love because although it’s not intended to be rude, spamming the guild chat has seen insta-kicks in the past, especially to new recruits who are still finding their way in the community and think it will be fun to spam their cool macro in the guild chat. If it’s a rude emote then it’s gonna be viewed dimly.
- TALK TO THE GUILD LEADER ABOUT GRIEVANCES IN THE GUILD – I am very approachable and if I have overlooked something then simply bringing it to my attention could work wonders for your future in the guild. Leaving the guild in the huff leaves me with a bitter feeling of ‘good riddance if he/she is so impolite as to just /gquit like that’. A brief chat could have cleared up any misgivings.
- 2-MONTH OFFLINE WILL BE KICKED – If any character in the guild spends 2 months offline, they will instantly be removed from the guild. If any player still has other characters in the guild then you will be able to return on your kicked character simply by asking an officer to re-invite, make sure you let them know who you are. If the kicked character is your only remaining Dambuster then you will have to re-apply at this website to get back in.
THESE RULES WILL BE SUBJECT TO CHANGE AT ANY TIME SO PLEASE FAMILIARISE YOURSELVES WITH THEM AND RETURN TO THE PAGE REGULARLY TO ENSURE YOU REMAIN ABREAST OF ANY ALTERATIONS.
