Raid Team Flexibility

I would like to encourage members of the raid team to try to level up and gear up at least 1 alt character so that during times when the team needs a different composition, we can have the flexibility to meet our challenges more effectively.

Currently we are awaiting:-

  • Meatblocker  –  Devilslotus’ prot warrior
  • Kungfao  –  Spyrot’s mistweaver monk
  • Feralburst  –  Prozackk’s resto druid
  • Andruimeda  –  Pocadøts’ resto druid

All these people have main characters in the team and the current closest to tier 15 progress is probably Andruimeda who has healed in Heart of Fear with us but she already has Pocahunter and Pocadøts ready and available to challenge at the top of the damage meters.

It’s easy for me to push for people to have alts who are raid capable when I have Caledønia (prot/holy pala) and Bunnyboiler (holy/disc priest) but I only have those characters due to hard work and devotion to the raid team.  In fact, before the end of Cataclysm, I discussed with Spyrot about which of my 8 lvl 85 (then) characters I could use in Mists of Pandaria raids before opting for Interdictor (my DK) only to find out we had Manacle returning and so I changed to Bunnyboiler who I love to heal on but would never have previously considered to be my main.  Sacrificing Bigticket because Pocahunter and Spyrot were both levelling to raid was a hard decision I had to make but I had no choice since 3 BM hunters don’t go well into a 10 man progression raid team.  I had multiple characters so I at least had a choice to make in that regard.

Due to the commitment of that team, this guild had a team ready and inside Mogu’shan Vaults on the very day it opened and although that night was a wipefest, I was very proud that we proved so determined to get a team of level 90s in that first week.

Bigticket will always be my favourite character and I also have ‘Snøøzz’ (rogue) and ‘Pished’ (rest/ele shaman) who could all be geared up quickly if needed by the team.  Right now I use them mainly for a bit of pvp fun but I also have Crambo (prot warrior) Combatlog (resto druid) and Interdictor (blood DK) all at 85/86 who will be levelled up shortly due to the 33% xp nerf to level 85-90.

I hope that the characters listed above will use the next couple of weeks to seek out boosts from the main team and blast through tier 14 content to gear up.  Gearing up a toon at this stage is easier than ever, just needs a little commitment but I also want to stress that it’s a good idea to maintain your main character so you don’t fall behind.

The team, with a couple of pugged in friends, kicked horridon’s ass last night in pretty sweet fashion and although it was a 7/10 guild team meaning the guild didn’t get the credit for the kill, I was particularly delighted with the group overcoming such a wall in recent weeks.  A lot of teams got stuck behind Horridon and it seems we are well capable now of blowing that up and moving through the raid more steadily.

I will be speaking with Spyrot about the raid team roster as it has been growing recently but we still need 1 solid tank and 1 solid healer to really bolster our team.  We have guys in the fringes of the team and I really hope they step up to the plate and force their way into the team from within the guild.  Lets see how these guys get on with gearing the all-important alt characters.

/Salute
