The Dambusters

The Typefrag Ventrilo server has just been upgraded to 25 man so I fully expect the previous squabbling about who gets to use the system to be a one-off. There are rooms for the raid team, the battleground team and general chat.  Please use the correct rooms when you log in, if you intend to just be sociable then get into the ‘Dambusters’ chat room by double clicking on it instead of hanging around in the lobby.  If people find themselves in the wrong rooms and it becomes problematic then I will enforce correct usage by applying passwords. Most of all, regardless of who acts like what on the vent, it’s a self policing service while I am not there so please act like adults and no screaming at each other 🙂

Last night a bunch of us Dambusters got together for some long overdue guild achievements. We completed the remaining Outland raids the guild required and then set about the classic raids.  The guild had failed to complete any of the classic runs but since you now only need 10 guilds for a 40 man raid to be counted as a guild run, we managed to grab some legends to rush the bosses with us!

Temple of Ahn’Qiraj was a particular pain in the butt but we managed it after a couple of flakey moments from my moody self 😛

Special thanks to Laradar(Willy) who remained patient but steadfast throughout the evening.

Please, if anyone feels aggrieved by any circumstance occurring in the guild, you must take screenshots as evidence to back up your claims about other guild members.  If you do not have a screenshot IT DIDN’T HAPPEN!  So do not expect me to take your word for it simply because I am your friend. Remember the guild is full of friends and you might be making a claim against someone whom I consider a friend also and who may have already given me their side of the events

A lot of people believe they have ‘preferred status’ with Bigticket when in actual fact, everyone has ‘preferred status’ so don’t confuse our great friendship with my weakness in bowing to your personal need to have someone /gkicked.   I value your opinion but I must think about the guild as a unit.  Try never to cite ‘I care about the guild’ as a reason to have someone ‘taught a lesson’ because guess what?….Bigticket knows what’s best for his guild at large 🙂   If you need to tell me about something, I appreciate it so keep up the good work guys.  Just let me administer the treatment of guildies, trust me I’m a hunter 😀

Last night I set about making a few changes to the guild ranking system.  No major surgery, just replaced the old ‘Senior Airman’ position with our new ‘On Jankers’ position which will be reserved for characters adjudged to have/or is likely to cause offence in the guild chat.  People who find themselves in this position will be able to read the guild chat but will not be able to contribute.  The only way back will be to /w a senior member of the guild and discuss how you are planning to improve your behaviour in future 🙂

I am certain that this unfortunate rank will not often be utilised and that it will act as a deterrent more than anything else for the moment. Beware that Ikaruga/Bluesamurai and our other powerhouse Maryhinge will have no qualms about using this facility so tread carefully if I am not online at the time.  

In addition, I would like to stress that you are fully able to joke around in guild chat as always, swearing is acceptable unless directed against a fellow guild member and abuse will not be tolerated in any way.

I am trying to decide how to best illustrate the full ranking system so that all our members have quick access to what the names mean, the guild bank allowances and the permissions attached to each rank.  Further developments will follow…

Came back from my holiday to find utter mayhem has occurred in the guild. Seems certain people need a figure of authority around or they just go berzerk.

When I built the guild, I made a conscious choice not to recruit skilled players but instead to look for good people. Ofcourse there’s plenty good people still in the guild but they have become diluted with mass recruitment of utter dross.

It’s time for me to try to implement a new guild recruitment system involving the guild website so we can ensure only like-minded individuals are joining us.

An update of the ranking system will be required, including a possible ‘naughty rank’ which will be muted and will act as a warning instead of /gkick which leaves a bitter aftertaste of the guild and can lead to a bad feeling towards us.

Just spent an afternoon with my brothers and wife. They are known affectionately as Bluesamurai, Maryhinge and Pocahunter as their mains. They are wonderful people and the guild is lucky to have such good people at the helm. /love Dambusters!

Just been browsing the latest stories on WoW Insider when out jumped a mention of the Levelling Agony of Xavius EU, our horde side friends. I know we hate hordes ofcourse, but our guilds are linked by mutual friends and cross-faction alts. Dayana (TLA GL) can be proud of her guild for getting noticed among the game’s top fansite crew. Well done!

Welcome to the new blog page. When I return on 16th March this blog will become a valuable tool which attempts to clarify decisions made on behalf of the guild.

Please note that not necessarily every decision will be explained here but only aspects that I feel require additional background. In addition, if there is something happening that you would like more info about then please don’t hesitate to ask.

I hope to receive some good feedback and possibly positive debate which will keep us on a strong footing as we head rapidly towards Mists of Pandaria.
