• Get your Dark Phoenix!

Great job last night Dambusters.  Your much maligned raid team who have taken a little bit of criticism from the more casual members of the guild, obtained a new mount for use by anyone with Exalted reputation.  Get your Reins of the Dark Phoenix from the guild master store in the Stormwind Trade District.

  • What has happened?

Seems the days have been passing with my lacking ideas about what to mention in here 🙁

Fridai happened to pass comment tonight about the lack of blah blah on here so now I guess I must talk some shit since this was all my idea.

Hmmm another Deathwing kill tonight and after a little confusion about our attempts to improve our raid team’s loot distribution system, I was delighted to be the beneficiary of some good old fashioned /roll wins.

A couple of slight adjustments to the ranking system included an increased guild bank repair allowance for Flight Sergeants to come into line with Air Raider, thus negating the previous shortfall experienced by a couple of raiders who had the Flight Sergeant rank but were restricted in their GB repairs allowance.  That should solve that little issue.

Congratulations to the people who were promoted tonight, we now have a couple more people able to contribute to the /o (Officer) chat and we have already begun discussing certain aspects of the guild management.  I hope that this dialogue will continue and the ‘officers’ (I hate that term tbh) can get further involved with the management of the guild.

One more point, could the raid team please read up about the Suicide kings loot system, it will be implemented and will become more beneficial as the team gears up more and also as we become ever more stable as a unit.  There are youtube video links on the Facebook page and the website so nip over and look at the nice video which explains the system well.

  • Torrés leaving :(

Torrés has just informed the guild that he intends to vacate the realm and switch to be with some IRL friends, very sad news for the guild but we wish him all the best, he wrote a touching forum post on The Dambusters Webpage

  • Still a social levelling guild……..

…………but a social levelling guild with a proud raid team who have completed the end game!   A few of the team already had the Destroyer’s End title due to successful pugs but most of us had not completed the raid in normal mode until last night.  More importantly, we did it as a group of Dambusters and with great gusto!

Next Wednesday we begin our attempts on Heroic modes starting with Heroic Morchok and then going for another full clear on normal.  It’s taken us a long time to assemble a group of friends from the guild capable of achieving end-game boss kills together but we have been lucky to have had excellent raid leaders to amalgamate our teams this patch.

It’s been a crazy journey for the last few years as a member of the Dambusters guild. I’ve learned a lot about guild leadership and most of it has been learned the hard way, by experience of burned fingers.  From gold sellers robbing the guild bank to people joining on all kinds of characters and worming their way up the ranks on multiple characters before robing the guild bank on all characters and leaving us.  I’ve even had a ‘trusted’ friend who requested a temp promotion to remove a certain item from the guild bank who actually abused that 30 second promotion, proceeded to withdraw his full 1000g bank allowance for the temp rank and /gquit then log out!  I know right?  WANKER   ….and for 1000g??  pfft

Well all our work since the foundation of the guild had been worthwhile as we can now be considered to be a fore-runner of the levelling guilds on the server, even ahead in the progress parses than some ‘raiding guilds’ in the realm 😀   That is extremely satisfying.  I recall a certain group who left our ‘noob’ guild to create a raiding guild and poached some of our more skilled members only to fall miserably behind us in the raiding progress tables and are now effectively a disjointed mess with no leadership of note.  It’s sad to see that failure but equally makes a good point in our favour by underlining the solid status of the Dambusters at the moment.

Sure, we have our bickering from time to time like anyone else but we have learned how to deal with such things and we are going nowhere, that’s for sure!  You can be sure that I personally will never leave this guild and will never leave it in the hands of irresponsible people who have no idea about the incredible ethos we abide by here.

We may have a reasonably successful core raid team but we will always stick close to our roots as a social levelling family.  Never forget that our bracket in this realm is akin to the Trivium, the Levelling Agony and others who consider themselves non-raiding guilds.  Against them as friendly rivals, we fare very well so be proud of yourselves. People on the server know us well.

Remember we are all ambassadors for our Dambusters!

  • Deathwing the sporebat is now tamed and sat in Bigticket’s stable!

Last night, the Dambusters raid team finally killed Deathwing!   What a moment for this guild, we have never been a raiding guild but this has definitely whetted my appetite for more and I am sure I am not alone.

Not only that, after we slapped that old dawg around in rapid fashion (seems we were just tired on Wednesday night after all) we then proceeded to smash up our old foe Magmaw and the rest of his Blackwing Descent cronies.

    Well done Dambusters!

  • Spine Killed

Yes, that’s right! The social levelling guild ‘The Dambusters’ has broken the armour off the back of that giant sporebat known as Deathwing!
We made a couple of attempts on the final fight itself but in the end we will settle for a ‘nerf night’ kill. We were on his head at one point but people were tired, mistakes were made so we let him live (suffering with a broken spine) another couple of nights, that’s just how we roll 😀

The guild has not changed, we are still all about a casual friendly levelling experience, only difference now is that some people might decide to stay with their main characters after they reach max level.

Good luck tonight to our raiding ambassadors, and remember that everyone who displays ‘The Dambusters’ above your head is a diplomat for your guild! 🙂

  • Warmaster Blackhorn down…

A big WELL DONE to our casual guild raid team last night for getting Blackhorn down.  In actual fact, I reckon he’s actually only wiped us about 20-30 times in total before we slapped him down last night.  Fun to see how our strategy developed as we progressed and learned together which helped make the kill particularly satisfying.  Now I reckon he’s on farm too!

Nice to see the integration of new players and to have them doing well.  Inkei, Dissipate and Zanpak all debuted for us and all did really well.  I know those guys enjoyed the fun raiding experience with us with not a moment of bickering to be heard throughout.  Another good show on vent, great to hear your voices again and I’d like to make a special mention to the ‘Danish Podcast™’ on behalf of Genesis(Donnalouise/Pocahunter).

  • Dambusters raid team

I would like to extend a big thank you to Harin who has just stepped down as our raid leader after taking this levelling guild to 5/8 in Dragon Soul.  The Dambusters have never had a raid team and I am very proud to have had Harin create a fun raiding environment with some welcome progress for us.

Our friend and esteemed Discipline Priest Fridai will assume the raid leader position. He is a very good healer and a fair player.  He is a little bit different to Harin, a very firm and driven individual who will place more demands on the team.  I expect he might decide to make some changes to the team and the way it works but in this transition period I request that potential raid team members remain patient and accept the decisions he makes with good grace.

Good luck Air Raiders, see you in our newly upgraded 25 man vent server 😀
